About Us

Fords Creek Landcare Group, as part of Up2Us Landcare Alliance, was founded on National Tree Day in 2016 with a clear vision: to work with local schools and the people of Mansfield to improve the health and beauty of Fords Creek as it winds through town on its way to Lake Eildon.

Today, the group focuses on restoring in-stream health through revegetation of the creek banks and removal of woody weeds — and makes sure every event is enjoyable, social and family friendly along the way.

What We Do

Each year, Fords Creek Landcare Group hosts annual planting days, including National Tree Day and dedicated sessions with local school children. The kids love getting their hands dirty to help green their local environment — and watching their plants grow over the years is a reward in itself.

In June 2025, the group launched a monthly volunteer session along Fords Creek in Mansfield, bringing community members together to give the creek a real revamp. Sessions have included revegetation of the creek banks, rubbish removal and weed control, and always wrap up with a cuppa and a friendly chat. Whether you come once or become a regular, you're welcome — sessions are family friendly and open to all. Registrations are essential so we can confirm numbers and share the meeting location, which can vary. To register for an upcoming session, visit our Events page.
