Rehydrating Farm Landscapes with David Hardwick

Join us for this workshop to explore strategies to rehydrate farm landscapes with David Hardwick!

David’s passion is agroecology and empowering farmers with knowledge and skills that make a difference. He has over 20 years’ experience in rural landscapes, farming and food systems. He develops and leads Soil Land Food's extension and consulting project delivery across Australia.

David has had a wide-ranging career in both management and technical roles, including Landcare extension, revegetation, agronomy, soils, agribusiness, biofertiliser research and development and manufacturing, organics, training, and consulting positions.

He has worked on numerous soil and regenerative agriculture project across Australia. helped develop learning resources and deliver training to landholders in landscape rehydration and the rural landscape restoration at the Mulloon Institute in NSW.

This introductory workshop introduces the basics of the water cycle in rural landscapes and the science behind landscape rehydration.

Join Dale Grey, Seasonal Risk Agronomist, for a presentation on seasonal climate.

Dale Grey has worked with Agriculture Victoria for 29 years in crop and pasture agronomy, climate and weather. He is well known for his Fast Break newsletters and Very Fast Break climate updates on YouTube in which he delivers easy to understand seasonal interpretations of climate models.

Dale will focus on the current seasonal climate outlook for Victoria, climate driver activity and soil moisture.

Mansfield Community Vertebrate Pest Control Group - Public meeting

Community feral pig control program in the Mansfield District

The State-wide Invasive Species Program at the Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action (DEECA) in partnership with Up2Us Landcare Alliance is starting a new feral pig program in your area. The program aims to support community efforts, and is based on similar pest animal programs across Gippsland and the North-East.

What’s next…

A community meeting will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday 15th August at the Delatite Hotel in Mansfield to provide further information and detail around the program and what you can get out of it. We will follow-up with training and provision of traps with a process in place for trap collection.

Understanding Carbon and Climate Change on Farms

Join us for an informative event where we will discuss carbon and emissions on farm. Cam is a director of Nicon Rural Services, a consulting business near Geelong working with the grazing and cropping industries.

Date: Wednesday 17th July 2024

Time: 9:30am - 3:30pm Lunch included

Location: Delatite Hotel, Mansfield

Cam has worked in pasture agronomy and soils for nearly 40 years and has been involved in many farmer programs for the GRDC, MLA, Landcare and the current Future Drought Fund. He provides consultancy advice to farmers and lectures on animal and pasture systems at Marcus Oldham College.

Some of his recent work has been on helping farmers understand where a farm business should be positioned in the rapidly evolving carbon market.

He and his wife Fiona also run a 400 ha beef and sheep farm on the Bellarine Peninsula turning off cattle for the long fed feedlot market and fine wool.
