Revegetation Incentive
Up2Us Landcare Alliance partnered with the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority to deliver an exciting opportunity for Mansfield Shire landholders to enhance their property's natural capital while building long-term farm resilience.
Through the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program, funded by the Australian Government's Natural Heritage Trust, Up2Us offered subsidised indigenous plant stock for revegetation projects across 2026 and 2027.
The project has now progressed past the Expression of Interest stage, with 7 landholders in the process of planting out their selected revegetation areas. Each site is being established with plant guards and stakes to give the new plantings the best chance of survival. All plants have been sourced from local indigenous seed and grown by Bowerbird Nursery in Tolmie, ensuring the revegetation reflects the natural character of the region. Revegetation areas range from 0.5 to 2 hectares and are spread across properties throughout the Mansfield Shire.
Revegetation isn't just good for the environment—it's a smart investment in farm resilience, improving soil health, enhancing drought resilience, reducing erosion, and supporting the beneficial wildlife that contributes to productive, sustainable farming systems.
