Join the Aussie Bird Count 19th-25th October
The Aussie Bird Count is back, giving everyone the chance to spend just 20 minutes observing the birds around them and contributing to one of Australia’s biggest citizen science projects.
Taking part is simple: Choose a location, spend 20 minutes counting the birds you see, and record your observations using the Aussie Bird Count app or website. You don’t need to be an expert birdwatcher — every observation helps build a better picture of Australia’s birdlife.
The information collected helps researchers understand where different bird species are found, how bird populations are changing and how our environments are supporting native wildlife.
It’s also a great excuse to slow down, get outside and take a closer look at the birds living alongside us. You might be surprised by just how many species you can find in your own backyard.
