Community Effort at Fords Creek
We were thrilled to see such a great turnout for our volunteer session along Fords Creek in Mansfield this morning. With a wonderful mix of community members – including some very enthusiastic kids – we rolled up our sleeves to continue the important work of caring for this much-loved local waterway.
Together, volunteers planted a range of valuable understorey plants to help stabilise the creek embankments, improve water quality, and provide much-needed habitat for native wildlife. The group also took on the task of removing invasive weeds, giving the new plantings space to thrive and helping restore balance to the ecosystem.
The energy and enthusiasm of everyone who came along was inspiring. It was especially heartening to see young people getting involved, learning about the environment, and experiencing the satisfaction of making a positive impact on their local patch.
These community planting days are not just about the physical work of pulling weeds or planting seedlings – they’re about strengthening our connection to place, working together, and leaving a healthier, more vibrant landscape for the future.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time and energy to this project. Your efforts will continue to be felt along Fords Creek for many years to come. 🌱💚
