National Tree Day 2025 - Planting Positivity Despite the Weather
Sunday’s National Tree Day event at the Len Lynch Walk in Mansfield may have been met with grey skies and steady rain, but the local community didn’t let the wintery weather dampen their spirits.
Volunteers of all ages, including the ever-enthusiastic Mansfield Girl Guides, turned out in gumboots and raincoats, ready to get their hands dirty for the environment. While the final planting total didn’t quite top last year’s record of over 500 plants, a fantastic number of indigenous trees, shrubs, and grasses still found a new home along the banks of Fords Creek.
These native plantings are a vital part of ongoing efforts to improve biodiversity and waterway health in the heart of Mansfield.
The team at Up2Us Landcare Alliance would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mansfield Shire Council for their support—not only supplying the plants, but also braving the rain to cook up a much-appreciated sausage sizzle for our soggy but smiling volunteers.
National Tree Day continues to be a wonderful reminder of what we can achieve together—even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
We’re already looking forward to next year!
