A sunny morning for Fords Creek session

On Monday 29 July, Up2Us Landcare Alliance and the Fords Creek Landcare Group held their second Revamp Fords Creek volunteer session, continuing efforts to restore native vegetation along the creek corridor in the Mansfield Botanic Gardens.

After several days of rain, the sun appeared just in time for the session, creating ideal conditions for working outdoors. Nine enthusiastic volunteers attended, focusing their efforts along the Len Lynch Walk. The group completed planting that had begun during National Tree Day the previous day, and even retrieved an abandoned trolley from the creek—all without anyone getting wet feet!

These monthly sessions are part of a long-term effort to increase indigenous vegetation along the creek banks. The aim is to reduce erosion, improve habitat, suppress invasive weeds, and enhance the overall ecological and visual value of Fords Creek, which runs through the heart of Mansfield.

Each session concludes with a cuppa and biscuit, offering a relaxed opportunity to connect with others who care about our local environment.

The next session will take place on Monday 25 August from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
