From Soil Health to Edible Gardens – Learning with Craig Castree

On Saturday we had the pleasure of hosting Craig Castree at the Bloom@Doon market, where he delivered two inspiring presentations: Soil is Not a Dirty Word and Edible Gardens. Both sessions drew a great crowd and highlighted Craig’s deep knowledge and passion for sustainable gardening.

In his soil talk, Craig explored how the health of our soils is directly connected to the health of our food, environment and communities. He offered practical insights into how we can all better care for the ground beneath our feet. His second session focused on edible gardens, showing how everyone can grow fresh produce, no matter how small their backyard or balcony might be.

The Bloom@Doon market provided the perfect setting, with plenty of energy and community spirit. As we step into spring, many attendees left inspired to get their hands dirty and begin planting their summer veggies. Events like this remind us of the power of practical knowledge, shared experience and community connection.
