Training opportunity: Chemical use and pest control courses in Seymour

Up2Us Landcare Alliance is sharing the following training opportunities for local landholders, farmers, and land managers. These courses are being delivered by The Centre for Continuing Education, a not-for-profit training provider with a long history of supporting the agriculture sector through practical, industry-relevant education.

If you’re looking to build your skills, meet compliance requirements, or gain the appropriate permits for chemical use, there are two upcoming courses in Seymour that may be of interest.

Chemical Users Skillset – Seymour

Dates: 11–12 May
Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm

This course is suited to anyone using agricultural chemicals who needs to obtain or renew their AgVet Chemical Users Permit (ACUP).

Participants will:

  • Build knowledge in the safe handling and application of agricultural chemicals

  • Meet compliance requirements for chemical use

  • Work towards obtaining or renewing their ACUP

  • Potentially access government funding (with eligible participants paying a reduced fee of $60)

Places are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

1080 & PAPP Pest Control Course – Seymour

Date: 10 July
Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Cost: $300

This course is designed for current ACUP holders who require authorisation to use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) or PAPP (4-aminopropiophenone) bait products for pest animal control.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to safely and legally use 1080 and PAPP bait products in Victoria

  • Meet the requirements to apply for the relevant endorsement on their licence or permit

  • Gain the recognised qualification required to purchase and use these restricted products

This training is relevant for farmers, land managers, pest controllers, and others involved in pest animal management.
