Supporting Greener Farms – The Victorian Trees on Farms Project
Healthy trees are vital to productive and resilient farming landscapes. They provide essential shade and shelter for livestock, improve soil health, support biodiversity, and help farms adapt to a changing climate. That’s why Agriculture Victoria has launched the Victorian Trees on Farms Project, a new program that supports farmers to integrate trees more effectively into their farm systems.
Through this initiative, farmers across the state can access funding to plant and manage trees for multiple benefits — from windbreaks to habitat corridors and carbon storage. The program links practical on-ground action with long-term environmental and economic gains, ensuring that trees continue to play a key role in Victoria’s sustainable agriculture future.
What the program offers
Participants receive expert advice and financial support to plan, plant, and maintain trees that enhance both productivity and landscape health. The project focuses on strategic tree planting that complements existing farm operations while delivering clear environmental benefits.
Who can apply
The Victorian Trees on Farms Project is open to Victorian farmers and landholders who want to improve their property’s productivity and sustainability through tree planting. Importantly, applications are made directly to Agriculture Victoria — not through Up2Us Landcare Alliance.
