Fords Creek Volunteer Sessions Underway
Yesterday, Up2Us and the Fords Creek Landcare Group launched the first of their monthly volunteer mornings focused on caring for Fords Creek in the Mansfield Botanic Gardens.
Despite grey skies, five dedicated volunteers joined the session to identify and protect native plantings from previous years, many of which were hidden in thick grass. The group also tackled some weeding before sharing a warm cuppa and biscuit to finish the morning.
Fords Creek is an important waterway that supports biodiversity, provides native habitat, and helps recharge groundwater – all of which become even more vital during dry times. These sessions aim to restore and protect this valuable natural asset.
The next volunteer session will be held on Tuesday 29 July. Visit our events page for further information and to register.
