Beneath the Surface: Soil Biology's Role in Farm Climate Resilience

Delatite Landcare Group are thrilled to announce our upcoming field day, "Beneath the Surface: Soil Biology's Role in Farm Climate Resilience," featuring Regenerate Earth founder and soil microbiology expert Phill Lee. This must-attend event will transform how you understand the relationship between your farming practices and the health of your land.

Phill's groundbreaking research has revealed the hidden impacts of conventional ploughing on soil health and local climate dynamics. His findings show that exposed, tilled soils not only lose precious moisture and carbon but actually re-radiate more heat, contributing to the formation of high-pressure heat domes that block moisture inflow and exacerbate drought conditions.

At this field day, you'll discover practical alternatives that can cool your farm while boosting productivity. Phill will demonstrate how maintaining year-round green cover enhances soil's capacity to retain moisture, supports beneficial microbial life, and promotes natural processes that regulate both temperature and water cycles on your land.

"We've seen remarkable transformations when farmers shift from intensive tillage to regenerative practices," says Phill. "Not only do they reduce input costs, but they create healthier, more resilient landscapes that can withstand climate extremes while producing more nutritious food."

The field day offers a unique blend of cutting-edge science and hands-on demonstrations, making complex soil biology accessible and applicable to your farming context. Whether you're managing crops or livestock on a commercial or small-scale property, you'll walk away with practical strategies to implement immediately.

Join us as we explore how understanding soil biology and maintaining living ground cover can transform your farm into a cooler, more productive system that works with nature rather than against it. Together, we will build prosperity through regenerative, nature-based solutions. This project received funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
